Novel donor-acceptor conjugated molecules

The donor-acceptor conjugated molecules such as substituted cyanoethynylethenes (CEEs), molecules based on 1,1,4,4-tetracyanobut-1,3-dienes (TCBDs) or other acetylene scaffolds are of substantial interest for tuning the opto electronic properties of advanced materials. In our project we propose preparation of donor-acceptor substituted but-1,3-dienes an their expanded analogs (see Scheme below).
