Project

Target molecule

Dendritic metalloporphyrins can be used to mimic naturally occurring heme proteins, to study the electron transfer through a dendritic network, and to identify the dendrimer-porphyrin interation. In the case of triply fused porphyrin sheets, both their chemical functionalization and the nature of their interactions with redox- and photo-active chromophores have been largely unexplored. We decided therefore to synthesize triply fused diporphyrins surrounded by dendrons (Figure 1), and especially to complex two different metals with each porphyrin. The series of dendritic metalloporphyrins will be studied as gas-sensors, for molecular recognition and catalysis.
