3D Acetylenic Scaffolding Using Enantiopure, Laterally Functionalized 1,3-Diethynylallenes (DEAs)

Chiral 1,3-diethynylallenes (DEAs) have proven to be very versatile building blocks for a number of carbon-rich scaffolds, such as alleno-acetylenic oligomers and macrocyles, which have shown exceptional chiroptical properties. Our current efforts in this field have focused on the lateral functionalization of DEAs with the aim of triggering self-association of the corresponding macrocycles into chiral, columnar super-structures with amplified chiroptical properties.
