Synthesis of a new class of push-pull chromophores

Organic compounds comprising strong electron donating (e.g. N,N-dialkylanilines) and accepting (e.g. Dicyanovinyl) groups are of substantial interest in the active field of advanced materials research. This type of push-pull functionalization of π-conjugated molecules has become a popular mode for tuning electronic characteristics and thus, physical properties leading to promising candidates for next-generation electronic and optoelectronic applications. The aim of this project is the design and synthesis of a new class of push-pull chromophores investigating various π-systems as fundamental building blocks.
