Fullerene-Based Cavitand Switch


Creation of molecules capable of large reversible mechanical movements are expected to pave the way to the design of new dynamic molecular devices and receptors, such as switchable photo-induced energy/electron-transfer systems or molecular grippers for nano-mechanical applications. In this context, reversible switching between an open and a closed conformation of a resorcin[4]arene platform is one of the key properties. In addition, fullerenes have attracted much attention during past decades for their potential applications in the fields of biomedicinal and nanomaterial sciences because of their unique structures. The target of this project is then the synthesis and study of new cavitand switches having fullerene moieties.
